How to Import Reviews

Overview

If you’re migrating to Sendlane Reviews from another reviews provider, you can bring your hard earned reviews with you! Importing existing reviews is as easy as formatting a .CSV file and uploading it to your Sendlane account.

🚦 Before Getting Started

  1. Have access to Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet software
  2. Make sure that all products represented in your reviews import are in your eCommerce store
  3. Create a List for reviews Contacts and assign it in your eCommerce integration's settings

Uploading an Export From Yotpo

Yotpo sometimes provides different header columns based on the version of the app being used. If header columns do not exactly match Sendlane Reviews’ import tool, the import will fail.

Open your Yotpo file using the spreadsheet software of your choice and compare your column headers to the table below.

The headers on my Yotpo export match the accepted Yotpo headers!

If your headers exactly match the headers in the Accepted Yotpo Headers column of the table above, awesome! You’re almost ready to proceed with importing your reviews file. Save your file as .CSV, then proceed with uploading your file.

The headers on my Yotpo export DO NOT match the accepted Yotpo headers!

No worries! You’ll just need to replace your export’s headers before proceeding, and add an Order ID column:

  1. Replace any headers that do not exactly match the Accepted Yotpo Headers column in the table above
  2. Add a header labeled Order ID and leave the column blank
  3. Save your file as .CSV

Once you’ve completed the steps above, proceed with uploading your file.

Uploading an Export From Stamped

Stamped sometimes provides different header columns based on the version of the app being used. If header columns do not exactly match Sendlane Reviews’ import tool, the import will fail.

If your export from Stamped fails, get Product Management support by contacting Sendlane’s 24/7 live Product Support or your Customer Success Manager for assistance.

Uploading an Export From Any Other Provider

If you are uploading an export from a provider not listed in any of the above sections, files must meet the following criteria for successful processing:

  • Your file type is .CSV
  • Your file size must be no larger than 10 MB
  • Column headers exactly match the table below.
  • Your file must include all of the required column headers, noted in the table below with a green checkmark ✅.

Use the Sendlane Reviews import template to avoid import hiccups!

  1. Save the template to your desktop
  2. Use your preferred spreadsheet editor (Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers) to open the template
  3. Paste your reviews into the template, making sure to adjust column order and header text to match the table below
  4. Save your file as .CSV
  5. Follow the instructions below to upload your reviews!

If the column headers in your import file do not exactly match the column headers listed below, your import will fail

 Upload File to Sendlane

To import your review file:
  1. Click the Reviews icon
  2. Click Content 
  3. Click Import & Export
  4. Click Import Reviews
  5. Select a Product Review Source
    1. If you are uploading an export from a supported reviews platform select your previous platform, otherwise select Other from the Product Review Source dropdown
  6. Drag and drop your .CSV file or click to browse for your file
  7. Check the checkbox confirming that your reviews are genuine
  8. Click Import

If some reviews were not imported due to an error, the Results column will show how many reviews were not imported. Click the download icon in the Actions column to download a file of reviews that were not imported.

If your import was not successful:

  1. Click the download icon in the Actions column to download a file of reviews that were not imported
  2. Fix the errors by referencing the formatting guidelines above and adjusting headers as needed
  3. Try importing again by selecting Other for Product Review Source

Download an Import Error File

To download an imported file containing errors, click the download icon in the Actions column. The .CSV file will display all applicable errors for a row in the last column.

Troubleshooting


Why is the import reviews button grayed out?

The import button is grayed out when there is no assigned List for Reviews in your eCommerce integration. To assign a List for Reviews:

  1. Navigate to the integrations page
  2. Click your eCommerce integration
  3. Click the settings icon
  4. Select a List from the reviews dropdown
  5. Click Continue

How do I import videos attached to my reviews?

At this time, Sendlane Reviews supports photos only.

My reviews import is stuck at processing!

If the character \ appears anywhere in your reviews import file, your import may be stuck at the Processing stage. To fix this issue:

  1. Open your reviews file
  2. Press CMD/CTRL + F
  3. Enter \
  4. Delete any \ symbols present in your file
  5. Save your reviews file
  6. Import your reviews file

How can I fix a The product doesn't exist in our database error?

Ensure that:

  1. Your eCommerce store's integration is synced, and
  2. The product ID in the row returning this error exists in your eCommerce store

If your eCommerce integration is synced and the product ID returning the error exists in your eCommerce store, incorrect number formatting ( scientific notation) may have been applied to your .CVS file's product ID column. To fix this:

  1. Export your reviews from your previous provider again
  2. Do not alter the file in any way; applying a filter or cell formatting may cause incorrect number formatting to be applied to the product ID column
  3. Import the unaltered file to Sendlane Reviews

I imported my reviews, but they're not showing up!

Ensure that your eCommerce integration has a List selected in its settings for Sendlane Reviews:

Reviews have been submitted via the widget on my website, but I don't see them in the Moderation tab!

This issue is generally due to the wrong store being connected to Sendlane Reviews. Sendlane Reviews only supports one store per Sendlane account. Ensure that your Sendlane Reviews script and widgets are only installed in one store.
