How to upload, manage, and use media library content

Overview

The media library stores images, videos, and audio files for use in emails, MMS messages, and forms.

Read on to learn how to add files to the media library and use them in messages and forms.

Accepted file types and size limits

Files from the media library can be used in emails, SMS messages, forms, and your reviews store owner avatar icon.

The table below describes the file types accepted by the media library and where each file type is accepted. The maximum accepted file size is in parentheses in the column headers.

Access the media library

1. In the lefthand sidebar, click the Content Library icon

2. Click Media Library

Add and delete files in the media library

You can add files to the media library on the media library page, an image element in an email builder, or the image selector in the SMS builder.

Add a file on the media library page

To add a file on the media library page:

1. Navigate to the media library

2. Click Upload 

3. Choose your upload source

   1. File

      1. Click the file finder

      2. Select the file from your device

   2. URL

      1. Click the URL tab

      2. Paste your media's URL

4. Create or select a category*

5. Click Save

*Files without an associated category are considered uncategorized and will not appear if any categories are selected on the media library page's category filter.

Add to the media library from the visual email builder

To add an image to the media library from an image element in the visual email builder:

1. Click on an image element

2. Ensure that the Add media to media library checkbox is checked

3. Click the file finder

4. Select your image file (video and audio files are not available for email)

Add to the media library from the text email builder

To add an image to the media library from the text email builder:

1. Click the image icon

2. Click file upload

3. Ensure that the Add media to media library checkbox is checked

4. Click the file finder

5. Select your file

Delete a file from the media library

Deleted files will still appear in any draft messages they existed in at the time of deletion, but they will not be visible in the media library after deletion.

To delete a file:

1. Navigate to the media library

2. Search for the file you want to delete

3. Click the trash can icon next to the file

4. Click Delete

SMS message

Note that when the media library is opened from the SMS message builder, files larger than the SMS limit of 500kB are not shown.

To add media to an SMS message:

1. Click the MMS icon

2. Click Media Library

3. Select a file

Visual builder email

To add media to an email in the visual builder:

1. Insert an image block

2. Click the image block

3. Click media library

4. Click image to insert

Text email

To add media to an email in the text builder:

1. Place your cursor where you want the media to be inserted

2. Click the image icon

3. Click media library

4. Click image to insert

HTML email

To add media to an email in the HTML builder:

1. Click the Content Library icon in the main sidebar

2. Click Media Library

3. Find the file you want to insert

4. Click the view icon next to your file

5. Click Copy URL

6. Insert the URL into your email's HTML using the following tag: <img src="INSERT_URL_HERE" alt="INSERT_ALT_TEXT_HERE">. You can specify a height and width for your image by adding width and height properties to the tag: <img src="INSERT_URL_HERE" alt="INSERT_ALT_TEXT" width="500" height="600">

Form

To add media to a form:

1. Add an image block

2. Click file upload

3. Click media library

4. Click an image to insert it

Reviews store owner avatar icon

To use a file from the media library as your store owner avatar icon:

1. In the left-hand navigation bar, click the Product Reviews icon

2. Click Content

3. Click Store Profile

4. Check the Avatar Icon checkbox

5. Click File Upload

6. Click Media Library

7. Search for a file

8. Click Insert
