How to create and manage tags

Tags are labels that are assigned to contacts based on their unique interests, activity and behavior which creates granular collections of contacts for highly targeted content!

Read on to learn how to create and manage tags.

Before Getting Started

Complete the following steps before creating tags:

  1. Add contacts

  2. Create a list


Create a tag

  1. Click the Audience icon

  2. Click Tags

  3. Click +Tag

  4. Enter a name for the Tag

  5. Click Confirm


Rename a Tag

  1. Click the view icon next to the Tag to be renamed

  2. Click the Edit icon 

  3. Enter your new Tag name 

  4. Click the green Save icon


Delete a Tag

Once tags are deleted, they cannot be recreated. For example, if you delete your shirts tag and later try to create a new shirts tag, you will receive an error and have to use an alternative like shirt.

  1. Click the view icon next to the Tag you want to delete 

  2. Click Delete Tag 

  3. Click Delete


Delete a tag from a contact's profile

To manually delete a tag from a contact:

  1. Open the contact's profile

  2. Click the x button next to the tag


Identify contacts in a tag

  1. Click the audience icon

  2. Click the Tags tab

  3. Click the Tag you want to search within

  4. Click into the search bar and search for a contact


Troubleshooting

How do I add a tag to a segment?

It is not possible to apply a tag to a segment.

Since segments are dynamic, contacts move in and out of them and there isn't a straightforward way to later remove a tag that is based on the behavior or status qualified the contact to be included in the segment.

If you'd like to create a list from a segment, you can then add a tag to the newly created list!
