Understanding campaign & automation SMS reports
Last updated: May 7, 2025
Campaign and automation SMS messages automatically generate reports showing the SMS message's performance, including what time of day received the most clicks.
Regularly reviewing SMS reports can help direct your marketing strategy toward what works; read on to learn about the metrics available in SMS campaign and automation reports.
Before Getting Started
To give your contacts enough time to engage with your SMS message, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours after campaign messages go out and 1-3 days after automations are activated to review reports.
Open rates are not available for SMS messages
SMS messages do not track open rates because no tracking pixel is embedded in an SMS message.
Use click rates to determine an SMS message's performance.

Engagement
Delivered shows the total number of messages that were delivered to the recipient's phone and the percentage of deliveries that were successful
Clicks shows the counts and rates of total and unique clicks
Replies shows the total number of replies sent by contacts to the SMS message
Attributed Revenue shows the amount of revenue attributed to clicks from the SMS
Deliverability shows the counts and rates of recipients who unsubscribed after receiving the message and the number of messages that failed to deliver
Behavior
Behavior is a campaign only metric that shows the times of day with the best and worst open rates for the campaign.
The larger the slice of the clock graph is, the more contacts opened the message during that hour.
Automation History
The Automation History section is an automation specific metric that shows how many times the message has been sent in a given reporting period (change the dropdown for other reporting period options) and the message's click rate over time.
Revenue
Revenue shows the total amount of revenue generated from orders attributed to the message, the average amount of revenue per subscriber, how many orders were placed, and how many contacts completed purchases.
Tracking
The tracking section shows summaries of clicks on tracking links and any subsequent website browsing, plus unique and total clicks on each URL in your contacts' visitor paths.
Export report data
Drill down into your SMS report by exporting activity data for any group of contacts shown in the tabs across the top of the report.
You can also create a list from any of these tabs, which is helpful for sending follow up messages to a group of these contacts, or to re-send a campaign to the group of contacts who were skipped due to time zone or smart sending settings.
Available contact groups include:
Scheduled: Contacts the message is scheduled to be sent to
Sent: Contacts the message was sent to
Clicked: Contacts who clicked on at least one link in the message
Delivered: Contacts who successfully received the message
Undelivered: Contacts who were sent the message but it could not be received
Suppressed: Contacts whose phone numbers were suppressed
Unsubscribed: Contacts who unsubscribed after receiving the message
Resubscribed: Contacts who resubscribed after receiving the message
Events: Contacts who triggered an event from the message
Conversions: Contacts who placed an order after clicking a tracking link
