Getting started with email warming

Overview

This article is the fourth of seven guides to getting started with Sendlane.

When you start a brand new retention marketing program or migrate to a new email service provider, you need to develop your sending reputation from zero. This process is called "warming."

When the tasks in this guide are complete, you'll have installed Sendlane's tracking pixel, authenticated a domain for sending, and warmed your new authenticated domain.

At the end of this article, you'll find links to more guides that will help you set up and use all of Sendlane's features.

In this guide

Step One: Install Beacon

The Beacon tracking pixel helps you track and understand how contacts interact with your emails, SMS tracking links, and website. It is an invisible image file embedded in emails and enabled on-site by a JavaScript snippet added to a store's website.

Read Understanding the Beacon tracking pixel for detailed information about Beacon. Follow the instructions in the How do I install Beacon? section for your eCommerce integration.

Step Two: Verify a sending domain and authenticate a sender profile

Verified sending domains are subdomains of your business's primary domain and are used exclusively for email marketing. Once you've verified a sending domain, you'll authenticate a sender profile to use your new verified domain to send email.

Read What is a verified sending domain? for more information, then follow the instructions in How to verify a sending domain.

Step Three: Warm your authenticated domain

Once your authenticated sender profile is set up, you're ready to start warming your new sending domain! Read and follow the instructions in How to warm your authenticated domain carefully.
