How to change an automation's trigger
Overview
You might want to change your automation's trigger after duplicating an automation to retain some of its structure and/or content or you decide there's a more appropriate trigger for your automation after you've started to build it. Read on to learn how to change the trigger of an automation.
Change an automation's trigger
⚠️ You may lose content and logic when changing triggers
Some blocks available in the visual email builder can only be accessed by the email builder if the automation uses its associated trigger.
Some data used in conditional splits and goals are specific to certain triggers.
When you change an automation's trigger, you might lose this content or logic. Carefully review your automation before changing its trigger.
To change an automation's trigger:
- Click the trigger
- At the right top corner of the trigger, click the blue change trigger icon
- Select a new trigger
- Click Switch
