How to update automations with other automations

Overview

You can use an Update Automation action to end the current automation and start a new one, or end another automation. Read on to learn how to update automations with other automations.

In this guide

End & Start New

You can use the End & Start New action to end the current automation at a specified point and start another automation.

One common use for the End & Start New action is to end a welcome automation and start another automation based on the information and behavior recorded by the welcome automation. For example, if you've tagged links in your welcome automation's emails, you could start a new automation related to the links contacts clicked on using the tags added to their profiles.

The End & Start New action is intended to be the last action in an automation. If you add an End & Start New action between existing nodes, the automation builder will ask if you want to continue because if the action is saved, all existing nodes below it will be deleted.

To end the current automation and start a new one:

  1. Click the + button at bottom of your automation
  2. Select an existing automation from the Select Automation dropdown, or create a new automation
  3. Click Done
