Google reCAPTCHA
Google's reCAPTCHA is a service that protects websites from spam and abuse by analyzing user behavior to distinguish humans from bots. It's a script added to your website, similar to Beacon, which monitors user interactions like mouse movements, keystrokes, and timing patterns.
Based on this behavioral data and other signals, reCAPTCHA assigns a risk score or prompts additional challenges (like image recognition tasks) if the activity appears suspicious. Submissions can then be blocked, challenged, or allowed depending on the risk score and site configuration.
A similar service called hCaptcha is enabled by default on all Shopify stores. Shopify Plus users can choose to enable reCAPTCHA instead by adjusting their store settings.
