Understanding footer requirements for marketing emails

Overview

Marketing emails are required by the CAN-SPAM Act to contain your business' name and physical mailing address, and a link recipients can use to unsubscribe from your email list. Sendlane places this information in the footer of your email.

Business name and mailing address

The business name (1) and mailing address (2) pre-populated in email footers come from the sender profile associated with the campaign or automation node:

To change the business name or mailing address in an email footer, edit the associated sender profile.

Unsubscribe link

The unsubscribe link pre-populated in email footers is unique to your Sendlane account. You can add this link elsewhere in your email by using {{ subscription.unsubscribe_link }} as the URL for hyperlinked text or images.

You can adjust the styling and wording of the unsubscribe hyperlink in emails built using the visual builder by clicking the footer in your draft email.
