How to Send Targeted Emails to Smile.io Customers

Once your Smile.io integration is complete, you can send targeted email campaigns to your customers by creating segments, or triggering an automation! 


Before Getting Started

If you haven't yet, please follow the instructions here to complete your Smile.io integration.


Segmenting Based on Smile.io Points Balance or VIP Tier

  1. Navigate to Audience → Segments 
  2. Name your Segment and choose whether you'd like to identify contacts on one specific list, or across all lists (Global) 
  3. From the drop down menu, select Smile.io and then select your shop

  4. Select the conditions for your segment:

    • Exists: This option will segment all of your contacts that are customers from Smile.io
    • Points Balance: Segment customers based on their points balance; lesser, greater than or equal to a certain number of points
    • VIP Tier: Segment customers based on their VIP tier

You can now send targeted campaigns to your Smile.io customers based on their points balance or VIP tiers!


Segmenting Based on Smile.io Custom Fields

  1. Navigate to Audience → Segments 
  2. Name your Segment and choose whether you'd like to identify contacts on one specific list, or across all lists (Global)
  3. From the drop down menu, select Custom Fields and choose the custom field you'd like to segment based on
  4. Choose a matching rule from the drop down, and then enter the value of your custom field
  5. Click Update to save your settings and create your new custom fields segment

You can now send targeted campaigns to your customers based on the information provided in those custom fields!


Using Smile.io to Trigger an Automation

  1. When creating an automation, click the box at the top that says Click Here to Add a Trigger
  2. Within the menu that populates on the right, select Smile.io from the Integrations drop down menu

  3. Select the Customer Joined trigger, and then select your smile account/shop

Now, when a contact is added to Sendlane from Smile.io they will automatically trigger this automation! 


Troubleshooting

I do not see my Smile.io customers within Sendlane or the Segmentation options are not available

If you have just completed the integration process, it will take some time for all of that information to sync over. If you visit the Smile.io integration page within your Sendlane account and see that the status still shows Syncing, some information or actions may not be available yet.
